From validated prototype to serial production
A validated prototype proves a product can work. It does not prove it can be built repeatedly, at a viable cost, by suppliers you have never met. That gap is where most hardware projects stall. It is where we work. This is the path we take with clients, in the order we take it.
Cost & feasibility study
Before anything is tooled, we cost the product honestly: bill of materials, tooling investment, target volumes, and the unit economics at the quantities you actually plan to sell. If the design cannot be industrialised at a viable cost, this is where you find out, not after the tooling is cut.
Supplier selection & factory negotiation
Factories are not interchangeable. We qualify candidates on capability, tooling, capacity and export experience, then negotiate commercials and terms on your behalf. You get a supply base you would otherwise have to build yourself, at the cost of a service rather than a subsidiary.
Design for manufacturing (DFM)
A prototype that works is rarely a design that manufactures well at target cost. We adjust geometry, tolerances, materials and assembly order so real factories can build it, without changing what the product does for the user.
Prototyping & validation support
Engineering samples, then pre-production units, tested against the conditions the product will actually face. We keep the documentation current through every loop, so the design released to tooling is the design that was validated, not a version of it.
Quality management & QC inspection
Quality is defined before the first run: inspection plans, agreed tolerances, on-site checks during production. Problems are caught on the line, where they are a rework. After shipment, they are a claim.
Supply chain management & logistics
Once production is running, the work is keeping it running: component flow, lead times, shipping and paperwork. Serial production stays serial instead of stopping every few weeks.
Which cooperation model fits
Where you enter this path depends on how much of the design you already own. We adapt to that, rather than pushing every project into one contract type.
- ODM: Original Design Manufacturing
- SERES takes full design responsibility for the product.
- JDM: Joint Design Manufacturing
- The design is co-developed between your team and ours.
- Value-added engineering
- We improve or adapt an existing client design for manufacturability.
- OEM
- Pure manufacturing execution, based on your complete design.
All four models are available across the EU-Asia supply chain. As a pure service company with no products of our own, we have no competing agenda: full IP confidentiality, no conflict of interest.
Where we sit in this
Two offices, Brussels in Europe and TST in Hong Kong, plus 20+ years specialised in custom electromechanical products and the EU-China industrial ecosystem: automotive, industrial printing, building and construction tools, e-mobility, home appliances, mechatronics. We run these steps end to end, or join at the one where you are stuck.
